I Choose the Deep Blue Sea

I Choose the Deep Blue Sea

57" x 34.5"; $350; 2009. This is a depiction of the ocean, executed in pieced triangles. At the top (see detail photo) are clouds and sky, followed by dimensional waves on the ocean surface. As the ocean deepens, the colors get darker. The spots of color represent ocean life and plants. At the very bottom are the bio-luminescent creatures that light up the ocean floor. This quilt won an Honorable Mention at the Sun Prairie (WI) Heritage Quilt Show in 2009. The face and back are 100% cotton; the batting is 50% Bamboo/50% Cotton. There is a rod pocket for hanging. The quilting pattern is a waving meander running horizontally across the quilt, on its way to the ocean floor.
