Heavy black cotton forms the base for white and multicolor silk thread woven in fine block, column, and diamond patterns. This is a sarong border, intended to be stitched on to the hem of a skirt. It was likely woven on a backstrap loom; both edges are finished selvedge. 6" x 65"; Private Collection. Purchased in the Public Market in Phonesavan, Laos, 2011
